Question:

Considering that 4 million years (1/2 million generations) separate us from our common "ape-ancestor", and...

...that we're 99% genetically identical to Chimps, Bonobos, etc., isn't it a bit ARROGANT, to presume that some outside force intervened with nature, just to produce us, and left the rest of nature untouched in the meantime?

It's almost as ridiculous as that "virgin-birth" story, which was SUDDENLY added to the New Testament, more than 100 years after the recorded event took place...

I mean this would be every mad-scientists dream...

to alter his test-tube experiments, without them knowing it, unless the "Creator" is just a gigantic, mad-scientist....

Yeah, that explains it!

So, I guess the Creationists are correct...we're the lucky beneficiaries of the Monkey Lottery/Sweepstakes...

  1. You sound bitter. I would be willing to bet that you don't even truly understand evolutionary theory. In fact, I know that, as humans are not 4 million years apart from their ancestors. We are less then 1 million "apart". (I put that in quotations because apart implies something far different then what actual evolutionary theory suggests, not that I would expect you to know that.)

We have a 2% genetic differentiation from a bannana, I don't think that you have a point here.

Please, stop trying to disprove other people's religion, and start trying to learn your own theory.

  2. I have heard it was more likely about 5 to 7 million years ago when we shared an ancestor with chimps.  New research that allows much larger segments of DNA to be examined found that there were many more large frame insertions and deletions than expected between humans and humans are only about 99% similar to each other.  Chimps will likely turn out to be 95% similar.  That doesn't affect the dating by the way which was done on mitochondrial DNA.

I believe there is something to us besides just our physical nature because of personal experience.  Still, it is a bit ridiculous to deny evolution or to think that something that made 10 trillion billion solar systems is fussing 14 billion years latter over us.  Some things that many religious people believe seem seriously detached from the real world.

  3. Evolution did not just start over night it started millions of years from the start and slowly evolved to what we are today. Ppl have evolved simply to adapt to survive. Natural things cause ppl to evolve or die. Earthquakes, volcanos and ice ages. They cause ppl to move to different areas to survive and then in different areas of the world were different conditions that they had to adapt to. Most creatures have evolved throughout time as well not just humans (we only focus on humans because thats what we are and we want to find out how we became what we are today). There are a lot of creatures whose ancestors existed back in the days of LUCY.

  4. I am a fusionist so I choose to agree on some of the points that make sense to all that give a hoot.

I am here now. Coulda been a god or coulda been bunches of gods on a wild party boat in some other dimension that made stuff occur.

Enjoy the ride while your here, and help others to enjoy it also at every moment that you slip through.

  5. I guess it is pretty clear who didn't win the lottery.

    :-)

  6. Logic and reason are futile in defeating deep psychological needs to transfer responsibility to an outside force. Mommy and daddy took care of me when I was little, now I want the big daddy in the sky to do it.

You are throwing tomatoes at tanks.

  7. I have been interested in evolution for many years and do as much reading as possible but.... there is nothing that explains why we have become so different than the millions or billions of life forms that have occurred on this earth.  Can you tell me why?  The experts don't seem to even know how to begin to figure it out.  They may say that certain things started at some point but why did it start is the real question.

  8. When you begin with an erronious postulate, your answer will always be incorrect unless by pure chance.

  9. im with you paternal..

What? you dont believe in god??!

your entire nation is going to h**l now! you are excommunicated..

blah religon is merely toc ontrol the masses..
