I've narrowed it down to the Nikon D60 and the Sony A300. The D60 got great test results and Nikon has an impressive stable of lenses, but the A300 has in camera image stabilization and is no slouch in test results either. So what's the concensus?

  1. I'm just answering to say that I agree 100% with fhotoace.

  2. Image stabilization is best done in the lens.  That is why you will find the pro camera makers building lenses with VR or IS built-in.

Forget in-camera image stabilization, it is a compromise and a way to keep design and manufacturing costs down ...

Sony is well known for their professional video camera

Nikon is well known for their professional 35 mm systems.

  3. Here's another vote for the D60, though if you want to save a few $$, look at the D40x as the D60 doesn't offer much more of an upgrade from it. But if you have the money to spend ;)
