Question:

Considering the recent economic issues, has there been any mention of helping college students with tuition?

I ask this because I recently read an article in the New York Times which detailed the low value of college education, as no longer supporting a sustainable lifestyle.

This has me a little worried, considering the economy and the lack of jobs in our specific industries. I'm currently working toward my second B.A. and I'll graduate next year with an unholy amount of debt.

  3. NOPE, no mention of extra help for tuition just the news of tuition costs going UP UP UP

  4. I have a BS in Finance been out of work for 2 years when I did work never had a job that required it. It was nice to have but most companies will hire you with out it. Contrary to what you may read companies are not looking for more skills they are looking for less skills and low cost. They complain that American workers aren't smart enough or don't have skills. It is just a deception to justify outsourcing or hiring of low skilled immigrant labor. It was and always has been about money. Jobs are supply and demand a friend of mine had a great paying job it was a manual labor job so no women did it or liked to do it. That was 50 percent of the competition. A job with the government requires that you be born in USA such as a government job wipes out a lot of competition. Bachelor degrees are plentiful and plenty of women have them and will work cheaply and companies know that. Having a license such as a plumber license for example is more important than a degree for example. There are no state laws requiring a company to hire an accountant without a bachelor’s degree. But they are laws from hiring a plumber without a license. When times get tough rather than raise salaries companies will hire unqualified people first. I graduated in 1992 college is a waste of money. You could go on the internet and get a bachelor’s degree online for peanuts it’s insane to pay big bucks unless it’s like Harvard. I see college becoming obsolete. Cheap online training taking over. Colleges also lie and hype the value of their degrees to protect their jobs. If you truly knew had little companies cared about a bachelor's degree you would have never gave them a dime.

  5. There's more help with college tuition now than there ever has been. However, most of the help comes up front in terms of waivers, scholarships, grants and low interest loans. Sounds like you went the loan route. Some companies will help pay off your loans if you agree to work for them for some length of time. It depends on how valuable you are to them.
