Consistency is Dannanceys Hill’s forte
One can hardly imagine a horse making the frame in six of the seven starts. Dannanceys Hill is the one who has done this in great style. The son of Revoque made a winning debut in Ireland in April 2011.
Under the care of M. J. O'Hare, he easily crushed the opposition by 10 lengths in the Dennison Commercials Ltd (ITM Bonus) 4yo Maiden. It was a fascinating act by the debutant.
After doing the goods on debut, the bay gelding went on long vacations, and stayed out of action for nearly seven months. He made his comeback last November, when finishing second to Coneygree at Uttoxeter.
In the Jenkinsons Caterers Intermediate Open National Hunt Flat Race, he handled the surface brilliantly, but missed the victory just by 3¾ lengths.
His progressive journey came to halt in December 2011, when he finished fifth in a very tough competition. In the hands of Jason Maguire, he got weakened in the final stages and as a result, failed to make an impact.
It was nothing more than an unlucky journey. He quickly got his act together, and shared the podium twice before taking seasonal break in March. After taking the third place at Hereford, he showed his class at Southwell, where he missed the gold only by
a neck’s distance.
Donald McCain’s trainee is performing superbly this season. He made his seasonal debut last month, when finishing second to Imperial Vic at Musselburgh. In the Be One Step Ahead Maiden Hurdle, he found Michael Smith’s charge too hot to handle.
As a result, he finished second by six lengths. Another fine performance was shown by him earlier this month. The spectators at Sedgefield saw him taking the second prize in the John Smith's No Nonsense Novices' Chase.
Dannanceys Hill’s entire career is full of good performances. Last December’s Douglas Family "National Hunt" Maiden Hurdle (Div II) was the only occasion when he failed to make the frame.
Although the T. G. Leslie-owned has not yet produced winning performances, his consistency is pretty admirable. Bred by Miss Catherine M. Walsh, the skilful gelding is expected to continue the consistent work, and soon start delivering winning efforts.
