Consistency; now the key to success in final three races – Red Bull
Team Red Bull's co-owner, Dietrich Mateschitz has stated that speed is a requirement while consistency is going to be a necessity for Red Bull if they want to win the title. Sebastian Vettel is currently faster than his teammate, Mark Webber but the 2010
title now depends more on consistency in the final three races.
Vettel has been the fastest driver so far this season as he has taken the maximum 8 pole positions. This is three more than his teammate and championship leader Webber. Although, Sebastian has been quite inconsistent in the second half of this year’s Formula
1 season but still, he has a good chance of winning the title as he is only 14 points behind in the drivers’ standings.
“Sebastian seems to have a slight edge as far as speed is concerned. We will see whether Mark's [points] advantage is enough to win the title. There will be no team order from our side. The driver who makes the least mistakes and is faster should, or will
win”, Mateschitz told a German news agency.
After looking at both drivers’ performances, Sebastian Vettel is clearly doing a better job than Mark and it seems that he is a step ahead in almost everything that is required to win the title. Sebastian is much faster than his teammate, is more determined
and on top of that, he is younger than Mark and has the physical advantage over him as well.
This racer has been one of the best new-comers in Formula 1 and one can say that he would be a threat to other great drivers like Lewis Hamilton and Fernando Alonso in the years to come.
Doesn’t Vettel remind us of how Hamilton or Alonso used to be when they started racing in the sport? Both of them were aggressive as h**l and more determined than anyone on the grid to win. Same is the case with Red Bull’s young German driver as he has been
performing in a similar manner.
Despite some of his mistakes in the second half of this season, he still is the favourite for this year’s world championship title. If Sebastian had been more consistent, he would have won the championship much easily.
Mark Webber, on the other hand, has been more consistent and safe rather than aggressive and fast. It worked for him in the second half because of the retirements his teammate as well as Hamilton had to face, but if Lewis and Sebastian stay consistent in
the coming races, Webber will be in a lot of trouble.
Red Bull has vowed to stay unbiased as they now claim to have no preference to which of Red Bull's drivers takes the championship. Mateschitz insisted that the team will not favour either of the drivers and if they want to win the championship, they will
have to earn it themselves.
“If we win the drivers' title we would be happy for both in the same way because each one would deserve it. It is important that they both know that they need the other man to become world champion, and that they are also driving for the team and the constructors'
championship,” he added.
The upcoming Korean Grand Prix would surely be a tight and intense battle. The Korean track is more inclined towards straight-line speed rather than technical turning. Amongst this season’s cars, McLaren has the fastest straight-line speed on track. However,
it is still any man’s game and one can expect anything to happen in the final three races.
