Consistency the only thing Headleys Charly needs to be one of greats
There is no question over Headleys Charly’s extraordinary racing skills. C. Price’s charge has proved his mettle a number of times, and holds plenty more to offer. The dashing hound, sometimes, loses momentum though. To become one of the great hounds, he
needs to be more consistent.
After showing a few good performances, the brindle dog suddenly gives away everything now and then. He started his career in June, when securing the fourth position on his debut.
He did not have to wait long for his first success, as he claimed the victory on his third trip. On July 28th, the dashing hound sealed the first place by a couple of lengths.
He could not continue in the same fashion, and faced a couple of defeats after that. After completing the order of finish on August 9th, Headleys Charly got his act together, and bagged three D1 wins on the trot.
The maverick hound returned to the open class early in November, when securing the runner-up place a couple of times. He was nothing more than an unlucky loser. Both efforts were quite impressive, and he was expected to get back to the winning ways after
that.
However, nothing good took place at the start of this month. In a 684 metres contest at Monmore, he got crowded at the very first bend, and could not recover afterwards. As a result, he ended up at bottom of the chart. It was a disappointing outcome.
The son of Headleys Bridge, out of Headleys Jenny, again surprised everyone by taking a classy victory on December 10th. In the Stadium Bookmakers Maiden Standard Trophy at Nottingham, he demonstrated an excellent show, and notched up the first
spot comfortably by one and a half lengths.
Headleys Charly’s career so far is full of surprises. The February-10 hound has not produced good results consistently yet, and his trainer needs to work on this. Without any doubt, he will become one of the best in business, if he starts bagging the top
prize on consistent basis. We wish him a bright racing future.
