Consonance confident to continue good runs over heavy surfaces
Just a couple of weeks ago, Consonance was taken as granted due to his 8-failure streak, but the Joseph G. Murphy trained and owned bay gelding impressed all by breaking his maiden on September 10. That was the heavy course of Galway. He ran very well under
Pat Smullen to trigger the mega upset.
With just one classic victory, the three-year-old veteran horse has gained a reasonable place in the betting market, and most of the punters strongly believe that he will emphatically bring home the ace title of the Feale Handicap when he runs at Listowel
on Monday, September 17.
The 14-runner high-stakes race will go over 6 furlongs and 60 yards with the surface being heavy. Traditionally, the brilliant sprinter will show a convincing performance in this race condition. Thus, he has a good chance to thrive.
Consonance started his career in July 2011. In June 2012, the son of Chineur out of Dissonance finished as the runner-up in Irish Stallion Farms European Breeders Fund (C & G) Maiden, held at Roscommon.
Then there came a series of below-par performances. With the dawn of September, the Irish sprinter gained some miraculous momentum that helped him finish third in Tote Jackpot Races 3 to 6 Handicap.
Finally, much to the surprise of the sport fans, the Patrick Cassidy bred gelding broke his maiden with the title of James P. Cunningham Electrical Handicap.
At the moment, Consonance is having a lot of confidence that augurs well for his upcoming venture. Moreover, he will again run under Smullen, and this is also an advantage for the gelding.
Among the other runners, Jappeli looks to be strong enough. The K. J. Condon trained chestnut filly delivered two marvellous performances at Tipperary during the last month.
After finishing second in the EquineFX.com Apprentice Handicap, she elegantly grabbed her maiden victory in the Costello Tavern Handicap. The surface for both the races was soft to heavy.
Thus, we must expect a rip-roaring battle in the race. This is the best time for Consonance to prove his skills and build up momentum. Good luck to the gelding.
