Consonance to topple Measured Approval in Tote Jackpot Races 3 to 6 Handicap at Roscommon
Despite a significant hike in the ratings, Measured Approval remains a major player, but Consonance is a risk worth taking in the Tote Jackpot Races 3 to 6 Handicap, being held at Roscommon in Ireland on Monday, September 03, 2012.
Trained and owned by Joseph G. Murphy, the 3-year-old is yet to get off the mark, but the consistent form he showed early in the season makes him a massive threat to the rest of the line-up.
Consonance made his presence felt in June, when he notched up the runner-up spot with ease in the Irish Stallion Farms European Breeders Fund (C & G) Maiden.
The 3-1 chance was in a great position to go for the top rank, but unfortunately missed the gold by a neck’s distance. The son of Chineur looked quite solid on his previous outing at Bellewstown, where he was fourth behind Jpevie in the Niall Collier Memorial
Claiming Maiden.
A terrible failure to make a strong finish cost him a lot, and he could not end up among top-3 by half a length. In the hands of Pat Smullen, the Patrick Cassidy-bred will hopefully give his best shot today.
A cash prize of €5,520 will be given to the victor. The preset plan is to start the proceedings at 16:35 GMT. The going is yielding, and the competition will be run over seven furlongs.
Measured Approval is expected to attract a lot of punters. Patrick J. Flynn’s charge was an easy winner in last month’s Follow Sligo Races On Facebook Handicap at Sligo.
The best part of his 6-length success was beating of the 4-1 favourite, Doublebarreljimmy, who could only secure the second place. The 4-year-old son of Acclamation is facing a lot stronger opposition this time, but still deserves respect.
Out of others, no one looks to have the guts to trouble the aforementioned pair. A thrilling battle between Measured Approval and Consonance is easily predictable. The former is expected to give a solid account, but Consonance will be tough to beat if he
builds on his recent good stats. Good luck to all the horses.
