Constantly dreaming about someone?

Every now and then, I have dreams about this one particular person of the opposite s*x. It's been going on for a year, two years now. It first happened around 3 days in a row, then stopped, then continued on again but in more longer, random intervals in beteen. For the past few months, however, I have not had a single dream about him - until my friend BRIEFLY mentioned his name ONCE, and even though I didn't think about him the rest of the day, he came up in my dream. What does this mean? I mean, I know it's possible to dream about COMPLETELY random people 'cause it happens from time to time, but really.. this is too prolonged.

Btw, we are just friends.
