2month old is constipated. we have gone to the doctors and he did not recommend suppositories, so we have not given him any. well then he recommend that we try giving him Electrolyte Water to get more fluids in him. well the baby has been on the water since last week and still has the same problem. we called again today and he recommend stool softener.

so, what kind of stool softener should we use? this doctor is really good and i trust him. we have tried Karo syrup, and Little Tummies remedy [ which is pretty much like gripe water]. his tummy gets tight and cry a lot. so any ideas about the stool softener for a 2 month old?

** and if your concerned that i should try a different doctor, we did. we got a second opionon and she pretty much said the same thing

  1. My son had the same issue but the doctor prescribed an infants stool softner for him. To my knowledge there are no OTC softners for kids that young. I would call and speak to a nurse at your doctors office. Don't give him anything OTC before consulting with them first.

Have you tried pear juice or diluted prune juice?

  2. I used Karo in my daughter's bottle and that worked great. Try a warm bath. Poor baby.

  3. If his tummy gets tight it could just be gas?? That's what my sons stomach did when he has gas. I changed his formula to the gentle ease by enfamil.

  4. Try a little bit of watered down prune juice.
