  1. Oh no no no!  No syrup! The sugar will just agitate his stomach.  Increase his water intake and you should be fine.  Sometimes kids just don't p**p for a few days and that's ok!  If they are not in any noticeable pain from it, just let it be and their body will work itself out.

  2. I had the same problem with my son most of his first year.

I don't know about the syrup but I would go for a natural sugar, like prune or pear juice, undiluted.  About 4 ounces is usually sufficient.

  3. My goodness, I just gave my son gerber baby food prunes.  I mixed that with a little apple sauce. I never used karo syrup.  I wold be worried about the sugar intake.  If it works, please update with the results!

  4. if anything doesn't seems to work then try miralax, it's over the counter now so you don't need prescription anymore.

  5. When they get constipated at this age it's usually a matter of  straining to do a big lump of doodoo - in which case a glycerine suppository is what your boy needs.  The combined stimulant/lubricant action will make him do a big smelly in a few minutes!

  6. If you want to do the syrup, one teaspon in a few ounces of water.  If he is solid foods get some prune baby food or better yet mash up some prunes and add apple juice.  That is what I do and she goes within a few hours.

  7. the kyro syrup never worked for me. plus the syrup can make there tummy hurt worse. my doctor told me to go get laxitives from the pharcemy and i did, it really sucks but i did it and it worked insintly and she was better right away. you stick it up there bum but she pooped right away. plus after that i bought this powder which is called myralax and you put it in there bottle and it doesnt hurt them in any way it just sofens there stools so they wont be constipated. if you do that you used 1/4 of the lid and twice a day. i have done it every day for a year now and she never has diareea or hard stools. i hope this helps

  8. My son is 5 months - when he is constipated I would put about 1 tsp. of DARK Karo Syrup (has to be dark) with his formula about 3 oz.....

But water helps with consitipation too.  So just puit about 1 tsp. of Karo in about 2-3 oz. of water.

  9. My son has had the same problem and the doctor told me apple juice would work best...they have an apple prune juice mix that worked really well for him!

    Good Luck!

  10. I would try pureed prunes.  A pediatric nurse also told me to give a teaspoon of molasses.  The prunes worked for my daughter, though.
