Constructors’ standings after 2011 Italian Grand Prix and Red Bull’s title bid – Formula 1
After a staggering race weekend at Monza for the 2011 Italian Grand Prix, it seems that the championship is still headed in the same direction it was headed towards since the beginning of the 2011 Formula 1 season.
Red Bull Racing secured another race win and proved that they are still more consistent and faster than McLaren or Ferrari.
Sebastian Vettel took his 8th victory of the season at Monza and sort of sealed the drivers’ championship despite the fact that there are still 6 races remaining in the 2011 Formula 1 season. As a result, the constructors’
standings are also in RBR’s hands right now as they are 126 points ahead of their closest rivals, McLaren.
The main reason why RBR are dominating the season in the constructors’ standings as well is that Mark Webber is also scoring some pretty good results. Both of the drivers of the team are actively performing at their best and scoring the best possible results
at each venue.
McLaren on the other hand have been scoring some pretty good results as well but their main issue this year has been consistency as they win a couple of races and then crash out of a couple before winning another few.
Both Jenson Button and Lewis Hamilton have secured 2 race wins each this year but since they have not been able to finish effectively in the rest, McLaren are currently in 2nd place 325 points ahead of Ferrari who are currently
in 3rd place in the constructors’ standings.
McLaren and RBR have two drivers scoring well but Ferrari on the other hand have been going through some major issues when it comes to the constructors’ performance.
Fernando Alonso has been performing at his best since the beginning of the 2011 Formula 1 season as he has secured a race win as well. Felipe Massa however has not even secured a single podium as a result of which the team is struggling to perform as a unit.
Mercedes GP had a very strong race finish this past weekend at the Italian Grand Prix as well as Michael Schumacher finished in 5th place after a great performance but unfortunately, his teammate Nico Rosberg had to retire out of
the race.
Mercedes are currently in 4th place and they increased their lead as a result of which they are currently 38 points ahead of Lotus Renault GP who are in 5th place in the constructors’ standings.
The main shift in the constructors’ standings however was in the midfield as Force India are now in 6th place after securing 4 points at the Italian Grand Prix ahead of Sauber who have dropped down to 7th place.
They are followed by Toro Rosso who have also started to close in for the 6th place fight. Toro Rosso have scored 29 points up until now while Williams are currently in 9th place with just 5 points.
The three back-running teams Team Lotus, Virgin Racing Team and Hispania Racing Team are in 10th, 11th and 12th places respectively. All three of them are yet to score a point this year.
