I live in the U.S. and I want to get a really good laser tag set. I heard of Hasbro's Lazer Tag Team Ops but its been dis continued, I also heard theres a newer system called the Phoenix LTX? But I don't know where to look, and if theres any other systems that are just as good or better? I went into a few local toy stores and none carry any type of Laser Tag. Is there a good online store? thanks in advance

  1. Target will be selling the new Lazer Tag Phoenix LTX.  They list it on their website as "Lazer Tag Multiplayer Battle System", which sounds kind of dumb and gimmicky to me.  Oh well.  Try a google search for that phrase to find the item.

I don't know which other stores will also be carrying it.

The release date is July 20th, 2008.

Like previous people have said, this gear is awesome and great fun for all ages.  My family plays (ages 8 - 55), as do many other people I know who are all ages.

It's more like paintball than your traditional laser tag: you can play in large outdoor settings and actually use tactics to try and flank people from a distance.

  2. well i live in Australia and i think it should pretty much be the same i got my brother one for his b'day so i would just look in major department stores like target and toys r us.sorry if i wasn't much help

  3. The Laser Tag Team Ops gear is (even if it's off the market) the best gear available short of any commercial gear. It's available on ebay, but the items prices range greatly. The new gear, Phoenix LTX, is coming out very soon. It's going to be $80 for a set of two, but it comes with a shotblast attachment, and a tv video game attachment. The really good thing about the Phoenix LTX is that it's backwards compatible with the LTTO gear

  4. Yes, it's true.  Hasbro's Lazer Tag Team Ops series has been discontinued.  However Hasbro will be releasing a newer version of Lazer Tag in a month or so - this is the Phoenix LTX.  Here is where you can find more information on the new stuff...

I had a chance to play test the LTX a month ago - and I am very impressed.  The LTX is very easy to use and has many cool features.   The feature that makes the Lazer Tag brand so much better than all the other "Lazer Tag" knock-offs is that it performs perfectly outdoors.  The other gear, Laser Challenge and the others, frequently take false hits from the sun and the shooting range is not that great.  From the Lazer Tag Team Ops gear, one of the units - the Master Blaster - I was able to score hits from over 500 feet away in full sun - and over 900 feet in the shade.  None of the other Laser Tag gear even comes close to that kind of performance.

So in a month or so, look for the new Lazer Tag Phoenix LTX at your local store.

BTW, I run an outdoor Lazer Tag club in Southern California and the Lazer Tag fan community is a fun one.  To learn more about the fan base, try visiting these sites...
