there is a local group that the creator no longer exist i sm wondering how one can 1 take over this unguided group 2 put a member in control of it the groupname is http://groups.yahoo.com/group/valdosta_whatever/ could you please get back to me on this my email is [e-mail]

You cannot take over a group if the owner does not grant their power to another member. But here is how you can contact Yahoo Customer Care about the issue:

Yahoo does not give ownerships to groups- only the owner of the group can appoint a new one. when others have contacted yahoo and let them know the group had no owner, yahoo deleted them so you're best off not e-mailing to them.

there are 1000's and 1000's in this same boat and although yahoo acknowledges "adopt a group" suggestion, they have of yet have not done anything about it

find anothr group- create one

But if chances are you will not have any luck taking over a group!
