Question:

Contact Lens information (Daily disposables)?

I have been wearing Ciba Focus Dailies for a few years. My optometrist recommended switching to Acuvue Moist (Daily disposable) because of better Oxygen permeability. But when I saw another doctor in the same Optometrist practice, he said there is no significant difference except for the price (Focus dailies are less expensive). I find both equally comfortable. I tried to search the Internet for more information on which one is better but all I got was Shopping sites for Contact lenses. Can anyone please help me make the decision? Thanks.

  1. 1-Day Acuvue MOIST is a soft daily disposable lens, much like the ordinary Acuvue (only more expensive) but with a cunning piece fo technology that adds a moisture-rich ingredient to the stuff they make the lens out of, via a proprietary process to embed it into the lens. This makes the lens more comfy, by creating asmooth cushion throughout the lens, which makes your eyes less likely to dry out. Like many lenses they come with UV Blocking and the lenses have a shape so you can tell if they are inside out.

So while they are very thin (great once they're in, a bit tricky to insert compared to Focus Dailies) this is more than made up for by the difference they've made to my life. They are still not recommended for more than 10 hours wear a day, as it's not good to cover your cornea all the time as the blood vessels can grow weirdly apparently, but since I never wear mine on a regular weekend during the day, unless something exciting is happening, my eyes do get a rest, and to be honest I'm not wearing them for hours a day longer than before, it's just that the last hour or so of wearing them is not all dry-eyed and uncomfortable like it used to be.

So that's my story. They are brill. The downside is they are quite a lot more expensive than the old focus used to be: a single box of 30 is around £20, depending on where you buy them from and how many you buy at once, whereas you can get focus Dailies for £13 a box, if you shop around. The extra for me, was so so worth paying though.

Like all daily disposables they come in a blister pack in saline, so you have no need to buy any solutions or anything else except the lenses.

Acuvue moist definitely helped keep my eyes feeling fresh and comfortable for longer.

So my vote is on Acuvue Moist and it's definitely worth a try.

  2. Yes, there is not much different. But if u want sumthing that offers more oxygen flow, then maybe u can try proclear one day.
