Well I have had glasses for quite a while now and I was thinking of getting contact lenses instead.

I live in the UK and was wondering....

Where to get them from?

How do you put them in?

Do they hurt?

How much are they?

I am short sighted btw.

Thanks for your help x

  1. Hi tash

If you want contact lenses then go to your nearest opticians they will give you an eye test to find out what strength lenses you will need they will also show you how to put the lenses in and take them out.

As for wether they will hurt put in correctly and providing they are not dry you wont even notice they are in trust me once you have them you will wonder how you lived without them :)

  2. go to the opticians, they show you how to put them in, clean them, how much etc. all depends what kind you need and how short sighted you are.

  3. Go along to Specsavers or Boots or Dolland & Aitchinson and they will let you have a trial. You get to walk around for half an hour or so to try them out. Best to take someone with you as it can be a little disorientating having all around vision if you are used to glasses.

They are fab and any day you want to give your eyes a rest or change your look you can pop your glasses back on.

They are very easy to put in and the optician will show you how (it does not involve touching your eye!!)

They do not hurt but make sure that you look after them properly or you may end up with an eye infection (i did when i was a little lazy over cleaning them)

I pay 10 pounds monthly and get a new pair every month. There are also daily disposables available.

  4. You ask for them from your eye doctor then they'll determine if you're eligible for them. And they should show you themselves on how to put them in. It saves the bother of explaining it lol. And no they do not hurt. They're completely pain free. And they're usually a little more expensive than glasses. Not that bad though.

  5. I really feel bad at you.

I might answer you good soon.

    Good Luck!!!

  6. You get them from your optician.

You just...put them on the front of your eye, it takes a bit of getting used to.

Nope they don't hurt at all, if they do then there's something wrong.

The cost depends on what kind you get.  Normal monthly disposable ones work out at about £15 for a box of 6 lenses  (3 months) , daily disposables, coloured lenses and extended wear lenses are all more expensive.

  7. Just go to your optician and say you want to try them and they'll sort out which ones are best for you. I went to Specsavers and they check a few things like the size of your eyes and what not to check you're ok to wear them.

They will also teach you how to put them in. Most people are fine in doing this...but i'm a bit squeemish so it took me ages to actually gt one in, getting them out was worse for me but you get used to it and it's fine now.

If the fit is right then no they don't hurt at all. When you first try them they feel werid., like you can tell something is in your eye but doesn't hurt at all. Once you're used to them you can't tell they are there.

Price depends on where you are buying them from. You can get monthlies or dailies. Montlies are cheaper, think I pay around £10 a month for mine.

    Hope I helped :)

  8. ask ur eyedocter(i dont care about my speling)

  9. contacts are more comfortable in ways compared to glasses.  they do not hurt at all.  They are not difficult to put on, though it does take a while to get used to putting a finger next to your eye.  Price in the UK may vary, but in the US i get disposables that last 6-month for about $15 USD a box.  so with the exchange i hope that's about 9-pounds or so.

  10. You get them from an optician who specialises in them

You will be taught how to put them in and take them out.

    No they don't hurt.

Once you have got used to them use your prescription to buy your lenses from the USA on the Internet where they are a third of the UK price for the same brands.

  11. im 14 and i have contacts :D

you can go anywhere but i get mine from vision express.

They cost around 13 pounds per box, and its really easy to put them in, because they teach you how to do it.

Im short sighted too, and its so much nicer than wearing glasses.

They only hurt if you ever get soap on them or have an eyelash in your eye or something.

Apart from that they are greaaaat:D
