Question:

Contact Lenses for Nearsighted who wears progressive lens glasses?

I'm in my first pair of Progressive Lens glasses (bifocals) and am thinking about getting some contacts, mostly for sports, weekend wear, swimming, etc. So not necessarily 'bifocal' contacts. What are some other people using in my same situation? Thanks.

  1. If you are looking for a lens you only need to wear once in a while, consider a daily disposable lens.  This would be healthiest for your eyes, because after you wear the lens for a day, you throw it away.  Everytime you put a lens on, it will be a fresh pair rather than a lens that has been floating in solution for however many days before you wear them again. AND you save money because you don't have to buy solution or a contact lens case.

As far as vision correction, you could get only your nearsightedness corrected and wear over the counter reading glasses for near vision. OR you could have your eyes corrected as monovision, ie. your dominant eye would be corrected for distance and your non-dominant eye for near vision.  This way you'd have a little help at both distances. talk to your doc about that one.
