Question:

Contact Wearing Question?

I have been wearing contacts for 14 to 16 hours straight at times... and have not been able to get a new pair of glasses... and now I noticed that when I give my eyes a break that there are red lines on my eyes. Will that ever go away if I go back to wearing glasses or am I now stuck with them? And why do they happen? Thanks! :)

  1. Your eyes are tired and need a break from the lens. The lines should go away in a few days but you might consider an extended ware lens if you plan to keep them in for long periods of time.

  2. It will goes off if u stop wearing the lenses for few days.

  3. 16 hours is way too long, even for an advanced wearer. If you're new to them, start at 4 hours a day then increase by 2 each day.

Wearing them reduces the amount of oxygen reaching your eyes and for that amount of time, you're literally suffocating them. I won't be surprised if your eyes are red from that.

I suggest you reduce the amount of time you wear them. For the time being, take a few days break from them to let your eyes recover.

  4. They should go away.  Sometimes I leave mine in overnight and my eyes will be all red after I taken them out the next day, they're just irritated and need a break.

  5. Probably because your eyes need to "breathe". I wear my contacts for extensive periods, its not the best thing to do but when i do take them out they can act the same way. I let my eyes breathe for a few hours and rest without the contacts.. they'll go away.
