First off, I just want to say that any information of any of the stores I listed i appreciated. Here are my questions: Are the contact lens checkups in walmart good and accurate? What about JCPenny, Target, Sears, Sam's club, Costco or any other optical places? How much does the checkup and followup checkup cost before insurance? About how much would it cost in total for everything (contacts for 6 months(one eye with astigmatism, the oth without), checkup, follow up checkup, etc.) at any of these stores if I buy contact from one of these stores? Has anyone fond a good deal for a checkup and contacts? Remember, any inforation of any of these stores if appreciated....and whoever has the best and most info gets 10 points!

  1. Most of the places you listed are sub par for service and quality. Just my opinion. I certainly wouldn't want to go to Costco and buy my contacts and then go get a tub of Mayo and 40 lb bag of dog food. Those things don't belong in the same store.

When you have contacts fit in a regular optical establishment, such as a doctor's office or independent optical shop, you will pay more. These places don't have the ability, or the need to purchase bulk quantities of contacts. What you will get is more qualified people to fit you correctly with a greater variety of products to offer you, based on your individual needs. Not fit you with the brand they have stockpiled and need to use. Contacts are first and foremost a medical device, and need to be treated as such. An improper fit can result in painful problems later. Also good instruction on how to maintain the lenses, as well as proper insertion and removal, is key to your success. So cheap is usually not the best when it comes to your eyes. Unfortunately, customer service is not as important to many people anymore. Good service is what you pay extra for, knowledge and skill.

Sorry, not the answer you were looking for, but some things are worth the extra few bucks.

  2. i used to go to cosco to get my contact lense exam.

    cost a hellla lottt.

if u have health insurance, u can get a dicount on ur eye exams, and only pay a co-payment

( now i go to for eyes, and only pay a $20 co-pay for my contact exam!!  and usually it costs like $80)!

if u have blue cross and blue sheild, then u have some kind of discount.

usually the place @ which u get ur eye exam, they get u a free trial pair of contacts and u can buy more contacts at the same place.

i reccamen the acuve advanced moist :)

or get dailys; thosee are awesome :)
