Contact lens questions?

i'm new to contacts, so excuse the dumb questions. so while i was trying to put one of my lens in (daily disposable kind), it fell from me and by the time i found it it had dried up and became all wrinkly. i put it back in some solution and it seems to have returned to normal. can i still use it?

ALSO those disposable daily contacts, say you take one out of its contrainer but you decide not to wear it, but just store it in some solution. how long can you keep it that way and still be able to wear it? do you have to throw it away anyway, even if you didn't wear it?

thanks

  1. I don't recommend using lenses that dried out.  As for how long you can store them in solution, it depends on the solution.  I use Opti-Free Replenish, and it says on the bottle that you can store lenses in an unopened case for up to 30 days. I'd imagine that they are all mostly going to be the same, but check the directions to be sure.

  2. U can leave lenses stored for up to 10 days. You can probably use the dried up lens if you can still see properly out of it..

It's probably not a good idea to use a contact lenses that has been lying around for ages drying up. It's best if your contact lenses are fresh and sterile, and seeing as they're disposable anyway, just open up a fresh packet.

As for the second question, I have read in the papers that disposable contact lenses CAN be stored in solution just like monthlies, but when I asked my optician she didn't recommend it, because they're made differently and are thinner (or something along those lines). If you're not sure about whether a contact lens is fit to be worn or not, your best bet is to throw it away, even if it does feel like a waste. Daily disposables are intended for one wear only, so if you decide to take them out half way thru the day, you should throw them away & not store them in solution.
