Question:

Contact lenses- My eye is red?

It is weird. It ONLY happens with my right eye, not my left. Whenever I put in my contact lens in my right eye, my eye becomes really red and irritated for 5 seconds or even less. I usually just dab some contact lens fluid into my eye and it goes away in seconds like I said. What could be the cause of this? I have the 2 week contact lens and my contacts are now on the 6th day.

  1. It could be that your right is just a little more sensitive than the left.  Have you checked the lens for any tears or nicks?  If the lens looks fine and you aren't overwearing them and  if it goes away after a few seconds, I wouldn't worry about it.  Its when it DOESN'T go away that you have to worry about.  Try putting some rewetting drops in your right eye before you put the lens in and see if that doesn't help.  Perhaps your right eye is a little dryer than your other eye.

  2. okay you should deffanetly get this checked out by your optrician.

I had this same problem with my left eye and hten it spread ot my right eye my optrician told me that when you have your contacts in while your eyes are all red it can cause serious damage. When your eye is red the vein on your eyes expand or swell adn get brighter and more noticable, when the contact is in when htis happens the contact starts to wear off at teh veins, cutting into them basically, like sandpaper on wood smoothing it out, when this happens to an extreme and your veins are worn out to a certain point it gets so bad you can never wear contacts AGAIN!!!!

i freaked out when she explained this to me, she gave me a prescription eye drop and I coudlnt wear my contacts for 2 weeks

it may not be the same case exactly for you, but its better safe then sorry.

  3. it could be that the way you put your contact lense in your right eye is differnt to your left so causing irritation like if your right hand exctra. or your right eye could be more sentive than your left.

  4. I hav no clue what could be wrong.

But this is a matter of worry.....

Call up your eye doc!! Just to make sure your right eye doesnt get damaged.

Remember.....eyes........they should NEVER be taken for granted.

They are windows to the world.....

    Go get it checked!!
