i want to but some colored contacts today but the problem is that my left eye prescription is -2.00 and my right eye prescription is -2.50.....

i called this optical were they sell individual contact lenses to see if they had my prescription and they only had -2.25.

so my question is....

would it make much of a difference if i were the -2.25 lenses even though they are not my prescription....

its only 25 away from my original prescription....

would i still be able to see?

thanks.

  1. As long as the contact prescription is not stronger than your eyes' one, you will still see fine but just not as clear. 0.25 won't make much difference. However, if you intend to wear them on your -2.00 eye, it may be a bit blurry and cause headaches because your eye has NOT reached the point where they need to wear that prescription yet. Wearing it for a long time may eventually force it to adjust, making you see clear with them, however, this means your eyes would have worsen by 0.25 to achieve that.

  2. Have new eyes implanted...

  3. NO one has mentioned this so let me be the first....

A CONTACT LENS IS CONSIDERED A MEDICAL DEVICE NOT A FASHION ACCESSORY AND A PRESCRIPTION IS A MUST... YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED TO DISPENSE SOMETHING THAT ISN'T WRITTEN DOWN BY AN OPTOMETRIST OR OPHTHALMOLOGIST... IF ANYONE SELLS YOU CONTACT LENSES OR GLASSES THAT ARE NOT YOUR PRESCRIPTION, THEY ARE BREAKING THE LAW!!!

  4. There is really no way of telling if you will be comfortable with the -2.25 lenses in both eyes.  People's responses to this sort of "fudging" of the prescription vary.  Be assured that you will do no harm to your eyes by trying.

If the prescription you have identified is for glasses, then there is no guarantee that the same powers will be appropriate in your contact lenses.  I would ask the optical establishment if you could wear trial the lenses for a few hours before deciding to order them.  They probably have trial lenses in the same -2.25 power that you could try.  If the vision does not bother you after wearing them for 5-8 hours then you'll be OK.  Try them first, then decide.

  5. probably, because of the size difference in your eye. you might get an inffection or wrong, so its best to put something on your eye that fits it perfectly or it might be some problems. i've seen it too many times at school where young teens wear color contacts and its not the right prescription. their eyes get red and irritated, and also pus in it...... real nasty

  6. You will notice a difference - it won't be quite as clear in one eye and a little strong in the other.  It's a very small difference, and you may not notice.. others do.  You might get a little distortion, and a mild headache.

  7. call some other optical centers they should find you the right prescription

  8. Yes, you can be able to see. Alot of people have -0,25 without needing glasses og contact lenses. But it might give you headach because you eye muscles will have to work more than if you used the correct prescription.

If you use one-day lensses you should try a -2.25 for one day to see the difference.

    good luck :-)
