Question:

Contact lenses dos and don'ts?

I'm a teenager and I'm going to get contacts soon. I want to know the dos and don'ts of contacts. I am in the school marching band, so we'll be outside a lot in the heat and wind (I live in Arizona). My parents recently separated too, so I sometimes cry excessively.

  1. For all details,  information and remedies about contacts check out http://use-contactlens.blogspot.com/

  2. do...

wash your hands thoroughly before you touch your eyes

use rewetting drops throughout the day (if you cry or the wind hits them, your eyes get very dry)

have an extra pair with you or glasses when youy go somewhere (trust me things can happen)

wash out your contact case every night

make sure that when you put a contact in the shape of the contact looks like a bowl, not a UFO shape (thats how docs describe it)

make sure when you take the contact out of your case to put it in, you put it in the palm of your hand and douse it with clean fluid and rub on both sides.

    dont...

dry your hands with a regular towel before touching your eye (the fibers come off in the contact fluid. use a paper towel

leave your contacts in for more than eight hours when you first get them

    sleep in your contacts

assume your contacts are completely clean until they have been sitting in the case for at least 4 hours

Ok, I'm thinking that's all you need to know, the doctor will probably repeat everything i just said. You should invest in rewetting drops or multipurpose fluid to wet your eyes during the day. crying makes contacts hold on to the eye. Personally, contacts were the best thing that ever happend to me, that had to do with my appearance. Don't let all the rules fluster you! They are great. You just have to be responsible.

    Good Luck!

  3. be careful taking them out . last night i scratched my eyeball!

but if you get the kind you sleep in only leave them in upto a week or two

  4. Good advice, except DON'T rinse your contact case out with water.  Only use contact solution on your lenses and your case.  Rinse the case with the solution and let it air dry during the day.  Always use fresh solution every time you put your contacts in the case.  And get a new case every three months.
