Question:

Contact lenses - how long (hours) can I wear them in a day?

I THINK i have pure vision toric lenses. These lenses are meant for monthly wear, I take them out after, rinse them, and put them in the case... etc.

But I was wondering, how long could I wear mine for? Are there any purevision users who can help me out? I need to know because I'm starting my work term very soon and that requires me to be there for 8 hrs... in which I would like to wear my contacts, but the thing is, I'd have to put them an hour in advance, and I'd need another 1.5 hours after work before I can find a place to take them off... so I was wondering if 12 hours is too much to wear them.

If it helps, the weather is also pretty hot and humid... I'm not sure if that would make them less suitable to wear during those long amounts of time. Should I just keep using rewetting drops every few hours??

  1. I live in a hot and humid environment also. I've found that i can wear my contacts for long periods of time without any discomfort except for dryness which can easily be fixed with moisturizing eye drops for contact lenses.

If your worried about wearing them for 12 hours straight, they shouldn't bother you. Your contacts might get a little dry, so just carry eye drops for contact lenses and use them when needed. I've even worn them overnight.

  2. i where contacts and they are meant for the whole day but if ur eyes do feel dry i would recomend drops to keep them moist and make sure u stay out of dust cause that can hurt

  3. if it is purevision then it can be wore for more than 10hrs to the extend of 24hrs. Purevision are silicone lenses thus suitable for long hr wearing. i have wear the purevision toric b4, it is still comfortable after 12hrs.

  4. I don't have that particular brand but each set of mine is for a month, and are to be taken out at night. The recommendation is that you let them soak in the solution for at least four hours between wearing, to get rid of any deposits. As long as the contacts are still comfortable, they generally are fine. I put mine in within a half hour of getting up, so by 7 a.m. latest, and just before bed, which can be as late as 2 a.m. Just keep eye drops (made for contacts) and if you feel the need, keep a spare case and your glasses with you. And also a small bottle of solution
