  1. Each box of contacts contains six lenses of the same strength. If both of your eyes are, for instance, -3.50 diopters, then you could use all the six lenses for both eyes, meaning three total pair. However, if one eye is -3.50 and the other is -3.00, you would get two different strengths. One box would have six 3.00 lenses and the other box six 3.50 lenses for a total of 6 pair.

As to buying online, they ask for your doctor's number to call for your prescription and brand information. No, you cannot pick what lens to get. You have to get what your doctor prescribed. If you want something else, you will have to go back to the doctor and ask about it. Yes, your doctor can refuse to order whatever lens it is you are interested in if they think in their professional judgement that the lens would not be the best choice for you or would harm you in any way. It is best to follow the advice of your optometrist or ophthomologist as they are the professionals. You don' t want to risk damaging your eyes. The wrong type of lens can scratch your cornea or cause infection. You only have one pair of eyes, take care of them.

  2. Anything. Can ask the doc for perscription and apply online is also ok

  3. First, you need a prescription. Your doctor should give it to you so you can order elsewhere, but check with him as his prices may be lower.

2nd. The contacts in the box are for one prescription. If both eyes are the same, you need only one box. If one eye is different than the other, you would need to order two different boxes.

  4. It depends - if you have the same prescription in both eyes, you only need one box.  If they're different, you'll need to buy two boxes.

You need to have an eye exam where they will fit you for a certain brand to make sure it works on you first.  No one will sell you a contact brand you've never tried out before.  They do this by giving you a trial lens to wear for a week.  If you like them, the Dr will sign the prescription and you can take it anywhere and buy them.  You can order them online after this, and depending which state you live in, it can be good for one to two years before you need to go back and get another one.  Hope that helps!

  5. IF both eyes require the same prescription, you can use the same box for both.

You should get a copy of the prescription from your doctor before you leave. He can supply you but you are not required to purchase from him.

A doctor can tell you you cannot wear contacts if there is a good medical reason why your eyes would not benefit from them.

Some people just cannot wear them.
