  1. There is a website that you can use to make free phone calls from Germany to several countries, it also works for the UK. It works both ways, too, I mean if you wanna call from the UK to Germany. You just put the german phone number in the first field and the other phone number in the 2nd field and click on "kostenlos telefonieren". Then both phones ring and you can talk up to 30 mins. After the 30 mins you can redial. You can use it between 6am and midnight (german time), if you sign up even til 3am. It's free because while you're talking you see advertisement on the screen, if you close the window, your phone call is ended, too. I've been using it to call to the US and it works well, just sometimes there's like a line and you have to wait.

  2. I am in the US and I always let my family in Germany call me.

They have various "Cheap" numbers there that they dial in front of the number they want to call. So  they usually pay between 2 to 4 cents per minute.

I think the numbers are usually listed in the daily Newspapers.

I hope I could be of any help...?

    greetings to the UK!

  3. Cheapest way is the e-mail.

  4. If you both have a flatrate and fast connection for the internet, you can use a net phone. I think AOL Instant Messenger has a built in free voice chat.

You can also try other software:

If you want to use the phone, you might want to check out the prices. I don't know about the UK side of things, but for Germany, check out:

    http://www.billiger-telefonieren.de/fest...

for the best connection price. I know that some companies offer a flat rate for international calls, but I suggest that you check back with your phone companies for that.

  5. e-mail. my friend used over there with her labtop.

  6. Instant messaging with computer to computer phone or webcam.  Works great with my friends between Germany & the USA.  There is no cost outside our monthly internet connection fee.

  7. sure do ....type in 1363 before the 0049 Germany code....on the first call you will be asked some details and then you pay less than 05pence a minute for as long as you like..there is no other charges so if you speak for 10 minutes you would receive a bill for about 50pence at the end of the month...it was called Vartec but has changed hands ....i have used it for about 6 years now.....Aussie,NZ,USA,Germany,France and many others are the same price

  8. using the telephone or writing letters to Germany ain´t cheap. so if you can use e-mail, do it. It´s really the cheapest way of communicating.
