Contacting spirits????

What is it called when someone trys to contact a spirit of a dead relitive for you?

The actual method can be either through a seance or a channelled message. In both cases, as it has been already stated, it is a medium who is the conduit. In a seance, a medium will either be in direct contact telepathically with a spirit or will use one their guides as a link.

A channelled message, on the other hand, from a spirit, angel or even an ascended master is a process where the entity speaks directly through the medium. This is sometimes done while in trance but it is not a strict requirement. The abilities and talents required to be a channel are somewhat unique and require  a disposition - or natural ability - to hear, understand and relay information accurately...and considerable training.

Sorry for your loss but dead people cannot be contacted.

The person above me is right John Edward uses a method called cold reading, but cold reading does not mean that the are sensing a spirit it means that they are guessing things about you and then building on it according to your reaction.

Have you noticed that mediums always start with "I'm getting a J name.." or "Who is Mary?" (very very common name). They are fishing around trying to get a hit.

A fraud.

Unless that person is making a direct call to your dead relative, and puts you on the phone with them, that medium could tell you anything.

You just need to learn to let go.

The person who is doing the communication is called a Medium. There are trance mediums, where they either go into a slight trance or a deep trance, where the spirit takes over their bodies. Then there are the cold mediums, who just pick up on a spirit that is near the person they are reading. If you have seen John Edward, he is a cold communicator.
