i wear contacts, and i get really bad allergies in the spring. I've always used eye drops and been fine, but this year ive tried like 4 different kinds and none are working. For some odd reason eye drops always make my eyes too dry but I've been able to deal with it, but of the 4 kinds ive tried 1 didnt work and three made them so dry that my contacts just irriate my eyes. What should I do???? I HATE wearing glasses!!!!!!!!

  1. Whether you  have allergies or not, artificial tears can be used to keep eyes hydrated.

I wonder if you have developed an allergy to the eye drops as none of them seem to work.  Many people develop allergies to the preservative used in eye drops.  They actually do not make a hypoallergenic allergy eye drop.  Go figure!  An eye doctor who has knowledge on this can have something compounded for you.

This is what I have to do.  Also, look at switching to preservative free contact lens solutions.

  2. Well if your using an allergy drop i.e., Patanol, It would be good to use a artificial tears drop as well.  They are good for your eyes and there is no limit to how many times a day you use them.  Just make sure you use them 5 min apart from your other drops. That way you should feel comfortable with contacts on.
