Contacts and Diabetes....:(?

Question

Okay - so my father has diabetes and he has bad eye vision. My entire family has bad eye vision. I used to wear contacts and Junior High but I forgot the reason why I stopped. BUT - I decided to wear contacts again and my left eye keeps twitching everytime I wear them. When I wear my eye glasses it doesn't twitch. Maybe I have that one inside out, or? I'm scared and I might think that it has something to do with my father's diabetes and I probably inherited something? Is it okay if I continue to wear contacts with my "condition". I hate the way my glasses make me look. I wanted something different. I'm also scared what the doctors might tell me but I dont want to see a Dr before it's too late.....:( And also, I checked several times and I don't have diabetes but I haven't been checked out lately.
