Contacts help! dailies?

Tomorrow i'm getting contacts, and Im still not 100% sure what kind im getting.. i was wondering which kind was a better solution. My friends told me that dailies (disposable) are much much more convenient, but a little bit more expensive. I was thinking though, that if i didn't have to buy the cleaning fluid, would it balance out? which is a better choice? 10 pts 2 best answer!

  1. If you are planning on wearing them more than three times a week, the planned replacement (wear, take out and clean each night, throw away after a month.) will come out cheaper overall, solutions included.

Some people opt for the convenience of "thow away every night" and hang the extra cost.

It also depends on things like working environment: in a dirty dusty place, totally fresh clean lenses every morning may pay dividends.

Or being able to go swimming, and dumping the pool-water contaminated lenses afterwards...

    (again, cost vs convenience)

  2. Doc Rick knows what he's talking about; but to add on to it the solution really isn't that much more compared to the amount you'll be spending on dailies.  The price is more based on convenience.

And because they only come in one size (8.6 bc) you just might have to go with a 2wk lens or monthly disposable - if your eye size or Rx requires it.  No matter what, the dr that fits you for contacts will give you the best options for your eyes, because everyone is different.

btw- cleaning fluid is REALLY cheap and a small bottle lasts a really long time ; )

  3. Sonia,

There are many different kinds of contacts and they come in several sizes.  The Focus Dailies lenses are a very good product and the most convenient.  At the end of the day you just throw them away and don't have to clean or care for them.  They come in only one size, however,  your doctor will determine if they are for you.   They also can correct astigmatism and they even come in colors.

When possible, I do prescribe these to many of my patients.

    Good Luck.

  4. The dailies are the healthiest and most convenient option.  They generally cost you no more than $1.50 per day.  I spend more than that on coffee.  They are only marginally more expensive than longer use lenses as you don't have to go through all the cleaners.
