Question:

Contacts in Army basic training?

I wear contact lenses and was wondering how hard it is to wear them during basic training. Would I have enough time and a mirror to put them on in the mornings? I also have glasses so would it be better for me to wear those?

  1. You will be getting your "rape prevention" eye wear. Leave the contacts at home they are contraband.

    SSG US Army 73-82

  2. Don't even bother bringing your contacts.  You will be issued standard BC (birth control) glasses that you will wear during basic.  Once you get to AIT you will have time for contacts and civilian glasses (as long as they meet military standars).

During Army schools if you attend you will be required to wear military issued glasses as well.

  3. They issue you with BC (better known as birth control glasses because it's impossible to get laid while wearing them) glasses that you wear if you fail a vision test at MEPS. You only are required to wear them if you NEED glasses to see, not if you don't see 20/20.

  5. You'll get to wear BCGs (Birth Control Glasses) lol

  6. I wore my BCG's for about 2 weeks before I put my contacts back in. I was able to take them out to clean them every weekend. But just like everything else, it depends on where you are and what kind of drill sergeants you have. It makes training a whole lot easier not having to worry about glasses. Keep them with you just in case.. but dont wear them in the gas chamber. Fair Warning!!! =)

  7. You cannot wear contacts in basic training and they provide you with glasses.
