Well ive been wearing trail contacts and after wearing them for 30 minutes or more they start making the corners of my eyes itch and i notice crusty build up to from them. All this goes away when i dont have them in and i have been wearing them long enough to be use to them. so whats the problem and i have tryed different solutions and even eye/rewetting drops. Could it be the brand of contacts not letting enough oxygen to my eye? I mean h**l it isnt like im having pain in the eye just itchyness. So anyone have any ideal what the problem could be and what i could try because i dont want to give up on contacts yet.

  1. You didn't say what type of contact you are wearing whether it be hard: semi-soft or soft. When they start bothering you, take them out, give it an hour and then put them back in - you need to build up time slowly. I have worn all three types of contact and what you are going through is normal. Getting used to wearing contacts and bilding up time is different for every person. When I got hard contacts, I wore them for 4 hours the first day with no problem. Semi-soft took me a long time to get used to. As soon as I put them in they bothered me- I know it took me all of two months before I finally got used to them.  Don't be using a lot of eye drops, because your eyes will start to depend of them. Hang in there - if you are really concerned about them - go to your doctor and ask if they can give you different ones.

  2. Well, since you are wearing trial contact lenses it is likely that you have a follow-up scheduled with your Optometrist at which point you need to chat with her/him about it. It is likely that you are wearing disposable CL since that is the most popular path and they allow the most oxygen to your eye. Here are a few possibilities.

    1) Silicone: Many of the new lenses that allow more oxygen are made of a silicone material and some people have a bit of an allergic reaction that results in itchiness and sometimes redness.

    2) Allergy season: If you suffer from allergies many times the allergans that float about deposit onto your CL and can be held against your eye. Way to solve that is wear your eyeglasses at that time or switch out your disposables more often. Even talking to your eye doctor about dailies; lenses you throw out daily to wear during allergy season.

    3) CL Solution: you may have a reaction to your contact lens solution. Try another and make sure you use a fresh case with the new solution. Don't toss a new solution into a case that contained the old stuff.

Hope that helps! Btw, to the person that gets her Focus Night and Days for $80 a box is getting robbed. The Sam's Club (dont need a membership to buy at their Optical) by me is $44 box. Even Wal-Mart or 1.800CONTACTS is cheaper than that!

  3. The crust is your eye trying to cleanse your eye.  Talk to your opth about some disinfecting drops (Zymar).  Also, if you have allergies, this is the season for pollens and alla that, so it affects the oxygen and cleanliness of your eye, as well.

  4. Tell your Dr and ask him for a different pair to try. My Favorite are focus day night wear. They are really expensive like $80 a box but they are the best I have ever used.
