Contacts!!??

Question

how old do you think someone should be before they can get contacts. is there a legal age. i know maturity is a big part of it. i heard somewhere that coloured contacts are bad for your eyes. is this true?

Age is not really the factor, but responsability level is. You have to be old enough to take care of your own hygiene and to be able to take out and put in your contacts well. Some younger kids are better about it than older kids. But, it all depends on what your folks say and your Doctor. Colored lenses are not dangerous if they are fit and dispensed by your Doctor or Optician. The ones you get online or from friends are not fit for you specifically and no one looks to see if any dammage is being done by the lenses, so you run the risk of having severe complications.  That is what is dangerous aobut 'theatrical" lenses. Prescribed ones that you get with your Doctor are no big deal as there is a professional that is trained to keep your eyes healthy looking out for you!
