Brand new contacts

Not allergic to them, because i have been wearing the same brand for awhile now

Went to the eye doctor and found nothing wrong with the eye

My eyes are usually not dry (when NOT wearing contacts)

Lately, everytime i wear my contacts for a few hours (3-4hrs), my eyes become very irritated and red, and it stays like that for a few days, does anyone have a solution to this?

  1. I would guess a few different possibilities.

First, it could be dryness (you can develop dry eye). Try some rewetting drops - you can get them OTC - and see if that works. If it only works temporarily, you may need more moisture rich lenses.

Secondly, did you change solutions? Different solutions have different ingredients/conditioners, which can cause irritation/dryness. That's a VERY common cause of sudden irritation.

You can also develop allergies, or it might be time to switch brands into something more gas permeable - your eyes could be telling  you that you need more oxygen by increasing its blood flow to the eyes in an attempt to get more oxygen (eyes get oxygen from the air).

All things considered, you went to the eye doc and nothing came up, so I'm sure it's not too serious. Sometimes you can get a "bad batch" of lenses, so if things don't resolve after trying all of these things, I would take your current batch back to where you got it and exchange them for a new batch. Good luck!
