Contacts...why do my eyes burn if i sleep with my contacts in....?

I don't have any problems wearing my contacts comfortably, even for long periods of time (15 hrs) but if I accidentally fall asleep with them in even for only 30 minutes or so I wake up and my eyes burn really bad. I know people who keep their contacts in day and night with no problems and not the "overnight" type contacts....what causes this?

  1. because everyone is different and so are contacts. your eyes seems to dry faster then your friends or people that you know that can wear them to sleep wit. you just unlucky and i suggest that you dont sleep with them or if you're gettin tired use some solution to keep them well lubricated. good luck

  2. you may have dry eye. i do..

my bestfriend can wear her contacts for 3 weeks with out taking them out.

we wear the same brand.. & even 12 hours later they burn so bad i cry to make it feel better.

  3. Your eyes can produce more or less liquid when you are sleeping, so either way it can make your eyes burn.

Just an FYI: I know you may think your eyes won't get infected and it's just a warning, but it can happen. I have the night and day ones that you can leave in for a full month, and my eye got infected from them. So just be extremely careful that you don't leave them in for too long, and that you clean them extremely well. Infections aren't fun, trust me.

  4. um.......hello! u r not supposed to sleep withthem in ur eyes. they are supposed to be kept lubricated. If your eyes are close how can you do that
