The former Juventus President feels that the current Bianconeri head coach was ill informed in his decision to request a plea bargain from the football authorities.
The head coach of the Turin giants has had allegations against him by the prosecutor, Stefano Palazzi, who has alleged the former Siena boss to be in the knowledge of illegal activities in football. Failure to report on betting activities is also deemed
a crime, and the prosecutor has recommended a 15 months ban for the former Juventus player.
Antonio De Rensis, Antonio Conte’s lawyer, recommended that there be a 3 month ban with a 200,000 Euro fine as a plea bargain. The plea bargain was dismissed by the commission, after which the head coach stated that he would be fighting the betting trial
head on.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Giovanni-c14985 Cobolli Gigli has stated his disappointment in the course of action Conte was advised to take. He feels the young coach could have been better advised. Gigli stated his theory that Conte would not have wanted to look for a plea bargain, but a full
trial. He went on to state:
“Although I understood the club’s choice on Conte, I didn’t appreciate it. I believe he too wanted to go all the way in front of the judges. After all, a plea bargain is a half-admission of guilt.”
He went on to comment on http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Leonardo-c22056 Bonucci’s refusal to seek a plea bargain, and he went on to state that seeking one does not go in your favour.
Diverting attention to the upcoming competitive match of Juventus, Gigli commented that the players would need to be extra careful in the Supercoppa Italiana. He remarked that http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Napoli-c40003 had become a bogey team for the Bianconeri, and commented:
“In recent years, we have often come out bruised and battered from games with Napoli. I still remember the time they fought back from 2-0 down to win 3-2, just as they won the Coppa Italia at the end of an extraordinary season.”
The Italian Super Cup would be played in Beijing with the team travelling from their pre-season friendly venues to face Napoli off on the 11th of August.
