  1. You could search online for dance studio's that teach this dance. But first you should learn classical dance to learn all the technics and stuff since this dance is semi classical and emotional. There must be a lot of emotion in this type of dance even in a small step it should beable to make everyone watching feel the emotion. This type of dance is kindof free and like what your feeling. You should beable to addapt the moves in to a lot of songs. But i think what would help you most is getting trained in other technical dances like classical, point, jazz, different types of lyrical and others because it could be to hard for you. This type of dance is really hard sometimes because you need emotion so you should try a couple of years in the other types of dance before you begin this one. Here's the thing about contemporary: there's no right and wrong, and there's millions and millions of different styles of contemporary, every teacher or dancer or choreographer has their own style. Which is why it usually isn't offered at dance studios.

another thing about contemporary is just the littlest things you do with your body can change everything like just the sipple point and flex of a foot can change the feeling and the emotion so be aware of that.

If you need any further information, feel free to email me :)!!!

    good luck!!

  2. Most studios will have some kind of contemporary dance, it is often called lyrical or modern as well. I would suggest just finding a studio that you like...start taking a ballet and jazz class. If you have never danced before then you need to learn the basic technique then you can start incorporating others styles such as contemporary.

However, there's a style a lot like it, called lyrical. Same type of music, and the movements are almost the same. Try that instead. But beware, if you want to take this, you may have to take a ballet class as well. Even if you don't I strongly reccomend it.

  4. ummmmm....... I live in MN too but I can't think of anything close to where you are...... but there is the place where I go, which is AMAZING! it is called MYDT, or Midwest Youth Dance Theatre.  it is in St. Paul/Roseville, but they have amazing teachers and we always put together really good dances.  if you want to check them out go to www.mydtdance.com
