The Juventus midfielder has gone on to state his opinion that the team is missing the presence of Antonio Conte on the field of play and in the dressing room.
Conte was handed a ban of 10 months by the FIGC for his alleged involvement in the Scommessopoli match-fixing controversy. The former Bari head coach was not indicted in the serious crime of sporting fraud, but the allegations against him were that he failed
to notify the appropriate authorities regarding the fixed matches of Siena-Novara and Albinoleffe-Siena. Conte still pleads innocence from all the charges levied against him, and despite the lack of evidence he was still convicted for having the knowledge of the Albinoleffe-Siena match being fixed. He has been charged with a ban of 10 months where he will be
suspended from being on the bench during matches or being able to give half time notes to players. Any type of communication is prohibited, and the players are missing his match day presence, according to Giaccherini.
The Italian international has gone on to state that despite Conte being able to work with them during the week at the Vinovo, the presence that the former Siena manager brings to the field of play is unparalleled and the charisma is missing.
This could be an inadvertent attack on the impact Massimo Carrera has on the field of play, as he is sitting and giving the team talks during matches.
While talking about the presence of their head coach, he went on to state that they grew accustomed to having him around, and the ban is unfair, and remarked:
“We were used to having the Coach on the bench during the game and as we walked into the changing room. Something has certainly changed because there is no longer his presence, his charisma.”
Giaccherini went on to state that the players have to act and behave more responsibly in the absence of Conte, but diffused any suggestions that they were not motivated during their matches in Conte’s absence.
