Question:

Continuing Art Outside of School?

by  |  earlier

So, I've looked at my courses this year and I don't have room to continue with High School Art.

What would be a good way to continue with art outside of school? Where should I look and what should I look for? Specifics would be appreciated!

Thanks!

  1. Could you possibly offer to help at the local Boys and Girls Club? By doing that, you could continue your love for art, and reach out to others who haven't tried it and would like to learn.

Also, maybe you could paint/draw/etcetera things and sell them. That way you could make money and still be artsy.

  2. actually all you need to do is set some time apart at least a couple of hour a week and keep working at it. It depends what kind of techniques are available, but if it's drawing and you need some inspiration what to do, there are quite a number of different books on the subject. I am sure your library will have a few. Take some out for inspiration, otherwise practice.

If you prefer a little instruction, you could check for life drawing classes in your area. A lot are in the evening to accommodate people who work. It varies widely how much instruction is given at such events, but you can always ask a fellow attendee to help you.
