If you don't have health insurance and had it could you ask the same doctor for a type of contraceptive on the phone without insurance? What is the best, other than the pills.

  1. condoms

  2. As long as you have a current PAP test on file (meaning you have had a recent pap done less than a year ago) then most Dr's will be ok with calling in BC but if you haven't had your pap recently no they won't give you BC until you go for the pap test.

  3. condoms. :]

  4. I don't know much about health insurance, so I can't help you with that part.

Other than the pill, condoms are best in my opinion.  I actually like condoms better than the pill.

The pill made me very irritable!  So it actually did work great because I never wanted to have s*x anyway :)

  5. If you don't have health insurance you can look for a local Planned Parenthood.  They will give you a Pap exam and then whatever birth control you desire.  It is based on income... I just called myself, and I am 28.  My husband's insurance doesn't cover Preventative Care, like paps, bc etc.  At the highest income bracket a pap costs $94 and the NuvaRing around $40 a month.  Quite a bit more than pills (approx $15), but more effective, and I don't have to remember to take one every day at the same time.  Here's what I know about other methods of bc from friends:

Shot-- makes you gain weight, and may not get your period monthly (doesn't sound like a good idea if you rely on your period as a sign of no pregnancy)

Patch--kind of gets gunky like a band-aid and lint builds up around it (plus a friend got pregnant using the patch)

Pill--too annoying to remember to take daily, plus it can cause nausea for the first few months, and weight gain, and really not good if you smoke

  6. condoms...12 in a box, $8.99 at the supermarket or pharmacy. Not having s*x is the best contraceptive but at least you had the sense to ask, rather than end up pregnant or with an std. Don't forget though...No contraception works 100% so you may want to combine the pill with condoms or you could consider the implant in the arm which lasts 3 yrs. Good luck. Hope this is helpful.

  7. yeah condoms or you can go to you're local teen health center and they will give you an exam and birth control for free, or you can give them a tip if you want. Just tell them you don't have insurance.

  8. none they all **** your body up stick to condoms

  9. No, you cannot get contraceptives from the doctor in that way..... basically fraud.

    Try abstinence.... works the best!
