Contracts issue not to affect Australian performance: David Hussey – Cricket News update

As part of the Argus Review last year, it was proposed that the number of central contract holding players, be reduced to 15, from the current roster of over 30. The move is feared to affect the players' performance on the Caribbean tour, while they worry
about being axed from the team.
The 34-year-old right-handed batsman thinks that the players' job is to play for their country, unfazed by secondary issues. “In terms of whether it's going to affect performances on this tour? I don't think so,” opined Hussy.
In contrast to the recommendations of the Argus Review, the prestigious Australian Cricketers’ Association (ACA) believes that the number of central contracts should be close to 20.
“As a playing group, I think we're all unanimous when we want more central contracts. They just provide a lot more stability and security,” said Hussey while commenting on the importance of central contracts.
While speaking on the focus and determination during international matches, David remarked, “Every time you go out and play for http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746, there is pressure involved and I don't think anyone really looks forward to winning contracts or losing contracts (while
playing). It's just about doing your job and winning the game for your team.”
The experienced cricketer has featured in 50 ODIs for his side while scoring one century and 11 fifties at an average of 36.28. However, David hasn’t played in any test for Australia so far.
The middle-order batsman believes that the number of central contracts needs to be cut down, but believes that 15 is perhaps too low a number.
After showing an average performance as a batsman during the finals of the recently concluded CB series, David is expected to perform his usual role as a limited-overs specialist.
