  1. Active transport is where a cell moves molecules in and out of itself using transport vesicles and integral membrane proteins and various other methods that require an energy expenditure on the part of the cell. Signal transduction is the process by which an external stimulus causes the cell to react by means of a series of messenger G-proteins to cause a certain reaction, usually the creation of a protein.
