Controling speed whilst skiing?

i went skiing for the first time the other day and got on fine but i had a problem with speed whilst going down a trail.it just seemed like i had no control on my speed, i know about the way ur supopse to turn ur ski's towards eachother to go slower but i was wondering if any1 has any tips please?

  2. You turn by placing weight on the downhill side to turnwhat direction you need this will control speed.

  3. Let's start with the basics, pull your feet back under your hips, stand tall flex at the waist. From what you wrote I suspect your weight was way back on your heels.  Twist both skiis across the line of travel, which will cause a turn, continue to point the fronts of your skiis more uphill, then turn the other way and do it again.  If you do not have enough width to this trail, go to a more open and gentler slope to practice until you have developed this skill.  Take a set of lessons from a qualified professional.  Enjoy.

  4. pizza or ice cream, that's how you slow down, make a pizza shape pointing your toes in and push your weight into the ground.

  5. You can also put different wax on the ski bottoms to slow thing down...
