Controlled substances??

Do level II controlled substance prescriptions expire? I work at a pharmacy and our pharmacist says that they expire in 60 days and a customer says his doctor insists that they have extended it to 90 days. I am from Michigan. I just looked it up on the DEA's website and it says that there is a 90 day limit on multiple prescriptions...I can't seem to find anything on the expiration of Rxs. I know that regular Rxs expire after a year and then level III expires after 6 months.

  1. Wow, I had thought all classes expired (legally) in a year.  Thanks for the info.

  2. The radio doc,  Dr. Dean Adel had a story on drugs expiring. The Army tested hundreds of meds as they need to store them for long periods. Seems most of them don't expire, he didn't even mention the ones that do as they are not very often used.

Oops... misread and got off on a ramble !
