Controlling Nicotine cravings?

So im 17 years old and this summer i have been smoking cigarettes kinda often, but never more than one in a day. Recently, though, I have been noticing that i get cravings which never used to happen. So, it has been four days since my last cigarette because i was really trying to stop, but the craving is so strong.

Is it naive to think that i can give into this craving and continue smoking only once in a while, or do you think that if i give into these little cravings then i will become a full on like 10 cigarettes a day type smoker?

please, shed your thoughts.

  1. I used to have the same problem. This works really well for me. I get a nicotine craving -- so I have a cigarette. End of craving. Try it. Have fun. Life's short with or without the smoking.


  2. i stopped by telling myself i was better than needing something so useless. its just a smoke its not worth your heath. you can live without it.

  3. It will get worse.  Stop now while you can. I've been smoking for 27 years and can't go more than a week.  d**n things will probably be the death of me.

  4. Nicotine is very addictive.  Sounds like it is time to stop before it gets even more difficult.  Addictions always get worse.

  5. stop now! cold turkey. i started out just like you and now i am 18 and spending 30 bucks a week on cigs. i wish i had never started. i just got on the patch today and it was like 40 bucks for a box and it is giving me a huge headache. there is no good that comes out of cigarettes. if you need something to distract you when you get a craving chew on a straw or eat a sucker. and remember cravings only last for about 5 minutes so let it pass and if you do this long enough your cravings will go away. you caught it early so do your best to stop now. no one has ever smoked one cigarette a day for there whole time spent smoking. nicotine is a very addictive drug. its a worthless expensive habit.
