“Controversial cricket board of Pakistan has seen fall of many cricket legends”
Pakistan cricket board has mostly been controversial either because of the undue interference in the team matters or because of its incompetency and non- cooperation. This problem is not just confined to the board’s reputation but also affects the player’s
performance resulting in damage to the cricket of Pakistan.
This notorious board has sometimes taken bold decisions and sacked cricket legends like http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Shoaib-Malik-c90088 who have been banned for life.
Other sufferers of the PCB’s actions are http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Kamran-Akmal-c70122 who were fined huge amounts of 2-3 million rupees.
The recent conflict between the Pakistan Cricket board and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Shahid-Afridi-c2482 has taken the matter to its extreme and the solution was sought in the courts legally. Their egos were satisfied but the irreparable damage done to the country was probable not seen
by the two sides involved.
There has been no International cricket in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 since 2009 which has damaged this sport locally depriving the fans of witnessing the team battles at their local grounds. Cricket teams are reluctant to visit Pakistan due to terrorism and security issues.
Moreover, if the image of Pakistan cricket remains the way it is these days, we might even lose International cricket invitations and coaches.
Former cricketers like Imran Khan, Waseem Akram, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Javed-Miandad-c66580, and Mushtaq Ahmad have also been criticizing the board. Mushtaq Ahmad, a world known spinner expressed his grief stating that discipline is lacking at every level of Pakistan cricket.
Currently England’s spinning coach Mushtaq claims that PCB has been taking incomplete measures in the past hence disciplinary issues rose. When the player took advantage of this negligence, the board took extreme measures and came up with harsh punishments
resulting in the loss of highly talented players.
Once Pakistan had a glory of talented players and today the team is struggling. Sometimes the players have issues with the coach appointments made by the PCB and sometimes they were unhappy with the Board’s director.
In one way or the other, there has always been authority’s unbearable interference in the team matters. Complaint was lodged against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Zakir-Khan-c98546, former director of PCB in 2007 for the same reason that he has been unnecessarily poking his nose into team matters.
Pakistan cricket team has had many rough phases in which nothing seemed to be going right and mostly the reason behind was the Cricket board.
Dr. Tauseef Ahmad, the training and rehabilitation consultant for the Pakistan cricket team in 1999 presented his opinion before a Pakistani newspaper, The Daily News on 16th June, 2011. He backed the criticism of former spinner Mushtaq Ahmad
stating the major barrier to the performance of Pakistan Cricket team is the unwanted interference.
The former trainer complains that every unqualified and inexperienced person in the PCB loves to comment on the players even though they do not do much for facilitating them hence improving their performance.
Another general impression is that PCB does not utilize the immense experience, talent and unique skills of the former cricketers making them mentors for the Team. For example Mushtaq is serving English team; his talent is utilized by others and not acknowledged
by his own country. Ijaz Ahmad one of the best fielders Pakistan had can be an asset if asked to be the fielding coach.
Former legendary cricketers complain that PCB does not even respect their opinions, Moreover, their criticisms are taken as an attack on Board’s integrity, then how would it make them its member?
All these issues, complaints, and controversies associated with the board and team players is few of the major reasons of losing the talented cricketers at an early stage who still have more cricket in them.
The Pakistan Cricket Board is the only governing body taking care of the cricket and Players in the country. If the same things continue, things would turn worse and cure would be difficult.
