Converse shoes for the groom and groomsmen?

There was this joke that my fiance was going to show up on 1st date(a blind date) wearing a suit and converse chucks(he didn't) everyone still teases him that he wore or thought about it. LOL

So this got me thinking. At the ceremony he and his groomsmen could wear regular dress shoes with their tuxes, but at the reception they could all show up wearing chucks. I'm hoping to be able to have custom ones made for my hubby to be (mostly black with our wed colors as highlights. and our wedding date one the back heel)

Do you think this a cute idea or dumb?

You could always get a grooms cake for the reception and have it look like a converse shoe...that would be a cute idea. and the showing up at the reception is cute too.....

Cute idea! Except highlighting your husbands and putting the wedding date on the back... a little overboard.

I think its really cute that after the formal photos to change into them... or you can get them, dont tell him and surpise him before you go into the reception

Awesome idea!  I absolutely LOVE Chucks!  I am getting a custom pair of Chucks made to wear after we take photos since we will be doing a lot of walking and such (Vegas wedding!).  I am having them made in my wedding accent color (burgundy) and with my wedding date on them as well!

Why not have them wear them for the ceremony too?

I think that is a really cute idea. Those would make a nice gift, and the groomsmen may appreciate getting out of the dress shoes. Maybe you could get them some laces in your wedding colors. Are you expecting them to buy brand new ones though? They may not want to have to spend even more money on attire, and if they wear old ones don't freak if they are dirty. It would make a really nice gift, but that may be pricier than you had been thinking. I still think its cute though.

A co-worker did this at her wedding, but the guys wore the Converse sneakers for the whole day...it wouldn't have been my choice, but it looked cool!  If you and your man like the idea, go for it!

I think it's really a cute idea. Chucks can be made into all different colors and styles, and it would be a great thing to remember about how you personalized your wedding. Check their website, and if u can special order really cool ones, do it! Maybe get some white ones with really lacey laces for you to wear, too!

I love it!  Sometimes the shoes you get with a tux are very uncomfortable.  Also, you may want to think about doing something comfy for you too.  I personally had to bring a spare pair of shoes because I never wear heels!
