Convert All Wheel Drive to 2 Wheel Drive?

Is it possible to convert my Explorer AWD to 2 wheel drive? What would need to be done if so?

Take out either the front or rear transfer shafts should do it.

You won't save much fuel though.

All you technically need to do is remove the forward running drive shaft. If you're doing it to get better economy or make it faster, you won't see much, if any, difference.

Sure it's possible but it would cost about ten grand. You'd have to lose the transfer case and get a different front axle assembly.
