Question:

Convert a shed into a chicken coop- how do I make a run outside?

My Mum wants pet chickens and I decided to convert a large garden shed into a coop as she wants 6 chickens but may want more in the future so this seemed the ideal thing as I have found that my plan will hold loads of chickens comfortably. My only problem would be building a large run outside- my only idea for this bit is chicken wire but I'd want it to be about 7ft high as we have foxes in the area- any ideas? Please?

  1. staple the chicken wire to the shed and run it out into the yard as much as you want to and if you want it higher just run it 2 rows high

  2. we have just built a coop at the bottom of the yard and we used fence panels from a building site the mesh type and you can buy them from hire shops quite cheap also the pen is quite easy to move about which will give your grass chance to grow back

if you were to ask at a building site if they had any spare panels or damaged ones they might let you have

i work on building sites and we are forever changing panels and we always stack damaged panels in the corner out the way
