Convert shipping license to flying/CPL license

current doing nautical science course in malaysia to become a seafarer but more interested to flying. reason why not pursue flying course is due to the financial factor.

  1. There's no comparison in requirements.  The only similarity is Navigation and even that is different do to the navigational aids used and speed at which events occur.

    Perhaps you can pursue aviation through the Air Force.  Even a flying position like Flight Engineer would get you in the door.  You would probably have to start with training in a C-130 position of Airframes, Electrical or Power Plants.

  2. No conversion is possible.  They are two completely different types of piloting.  Some principles, such as navigation, overlap, but essentially you have to start again from the beginning.

    Flying is expensive, too.  Becoming a commercial pilot is extremely expensive and pay is low if and until you rise to a high rank within an airline as a captain or something.

    Above all, choose something you really want to do.  The differences in pay may not be enough to justify choosing one or the other on financial grounds alone.
